Christian is the most recent addition to the Melissa UMC staff. Having served with us several times for about a year, Christian officially joined the staff in August of 2023. Since he is the new guy around, there is much to learn about him!

When Christian was 19 years old, he was diagnosed with a 1 in 1,000,000 type of cancer. His case was so rare that the doctors took pictures during surgery for medical textbooks and training! It was at this time in his life when he met his wife, Jessalyn, at church. Jessalyn was intentional about making time to visit Christian, and when she was still around after his recovery, Christian made things official, knowing in his heart that one day she would be his wife.

Since then, Christian and Jessalyn have enjoyed many date nights over bowls of ramen and expanded their family by two precious boys - Alexander and Julien. When Christian is not working, his favorite things to do are play with his kids, get competitive at game night, and cheer for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. (But he does also work for the Cowboys, so they pay him to be a fan!)

Through it all, Christian’s favorite verse, Romans 12:12, has been a grounding reminder in his life: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer." Ever since he started leading worship at 13 years old, Christian felt a calling on his life to help people feel the presence of God through music. He feels closest to God knowing that everyone is in the midst of the Holy Spirit together. Christian has experienced a warmth and closeness to the people of Melissa UMC and is excited to pour into the community through worship.
