Miriam was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi (Go Bulldogs!), and lived in Louisiana for a time before finally landing in Texas. She met her husband, Andrew, at the Montreat Youth Conference when they both high school participants. Miriam and Andrew still love any excuse to go back and volunteer, and Miriam recently served as a co-Director at the summer 2022 Youth Conference.

Miriam and Andrew have 3 children, Kaylie, Emalyn, and Sawyer. They are a Disney family who enjoy game nights and movie nights. One of Miriam’s favorite non-bible quotes is “Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.” -Walt Disney.

In addition to being a Southeastern Louisiana University graduate, Miriam is currently working on a dual Master’s degree; a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from a Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte. And (in case that’s not enough studying for one person), she is also half a credit shy of becoming a certified Christian Educator in the PC (USA) denomination.

Miriam loves all things youth-ministry-wise (even the sticky hard faith questions), camps, missions and most importantly, that amazing moment when a youth realizes who they are and that they matter. In addition to her passion for youth ministry, Miriam brings boundless energy, and patience and optimism to the MUMC team.

When she’s not sleeping or studying or running between her kids’ sporting events, Miriam enjoys exercising / running, watching movies, listening to audio books and loves to travel.
